You’re wonderful ! Do you know that?
Do you know that so many people go through their days managing to avoid looking inwards? They may, or may not, be aware some of their very early their own autistic traits may be attempting to get the better of them today. Maybe even hijacking their intentions and taking them one step closer to an overload yesterday, than the day before.
Sublimely the brain functions in an unaware state of ignorance. The days just seems to be blue. And tomorrow may be a slightly darker color of blue. More a gray tinge that creeps in unnoticed. Hangs around a little until the person just either does not want to notice it’s there or is now used to the gray and slightly somber day outcome coming to a close. Tomorrow the other shades of gray in another area of life sneak in and ‘set up’ house.
What do you do about it when you become aware of a friend or family member in this situation?

Simple things sometimes slip through the mental anguish barriers people tend to build around them. That innocent child’s laughter. Their smile and the joy showing on the child’s face.
What is it within us hidden from view that we allow to get satisfaction where it has planted seeds of doubt. The ones that send us back before our mental filters were in place. Most people have these mental filters about the age of six.
Yet many autistic children manage to somehow skip this ‘normal growth pattern. The simple, snide remarks of “nerd” or “geek’ making you not want to appear the person you mind seeks you to be. The lead pencils sharpened point digging you in the skin. Piercing more than the clothes you are wearing.
These and so many other things may have been blocked out as a temporary survival measure. Yet the brain is wired so that it has fight or flight instincts. Where everything that gets in is meant to stay in.
Here come the stepping stones to self-limiting beliefs.
I’ve been there. The internet is a wonderful thing. So many answers to questions are on there. At fourteen when I first came across an old DoS programmed computer, a person in authority had preached that they were dangerous things. Would rob your soul…. etc. And for over forty years this was so deeply entrenched it seemed that no matter what I was doing my own self-limiting belief was not going to let me through.
The ‘child’ within has fought for change. She is an avenger with a cause. Demanding to be heard. Part of that cause is to bring an awareness to others. To view Autism As A Gift. Equally to acknowledge the simple fact who you are. That you are wonderful. Do you know that?
And that truth is something that you are benefiting from. Know that I am glad to have met you and to be a part of your incredible journey.
